Gotta Start Somewhere
By tactics (@tactics)
After a few tries, this is the shortest version of "how to start the game."
You are playing For the King! A tabletop RPG set in an alternate high medieval history shaped by divine gifts and monstrous disasters.
To make a character, roll four times. These numbers are your Body, Mind, Magic, and Special.
Decide the defining stat for each one.
Note your Focus as 3 and your Luck as 0. Add Body and Mind for HP, Magic and Special for FP.
Choose what magic you studied. You can be a Knight, a Breaker, a Favored, a Builder, a Scholar, an Outsider, a Gifted, a Speaker...or maybe you never studied magic at all and you're just a resourceful Kin.
Your field of study will come with a tool and a guidebook. Guard them well.
If you like, select something important to you. A Goal, a Relationship, a Magical Object, or a Pet. It takes Focus from your studies, but magic's not all there is to life.
Read your guidebook, think about your story, then describe your character to the other players.
Let the conversation turn to why you're all here. The King. Describe them together.
When everyone is acquainted, report for your first Mission.
Your allegiance to the cause of the Kingdom will be tested.
You will be asked to solve difficult problems in creative ways.
You never know where your talents will be needed, so be prepared.
You will also stab monsters.

Sounds like a nice system!
I see you use 2d6. What's the core mechanic?
