Campaign Setting Question

By Gods of Aumin (@godsofaumin)

I am interested in getting feedback about what type of content game masters and players might like to see in a campaign setting. The campaign setting for Gods of Aumin is the world of Krystarum. I am planning on an epic world map, sample scenarios, races, creatures, npcs, magic, artifacts, etc for the world. What specific type of content in this world would you like to see? What interests you? Thanks for the feedback.

    Sounds like a fun project!

I suspect you'll hear widely different suggestions from different players.

In fact, my own preferences vary a lot:

On the one hand, I love lightweight settings that are only painted in broad strokes. Enough to convey the vibe, without a lot of rich and deep lore. That allows me to make things up on the fly, perhaps with the help of random tables to drive emergent gameplay. One of my favorite fantasy RPGs, "Warlock!" comes to mind. (Although they did later expand the world quite a bit with various setting books.)

On the other hand, I'm currently running Dolmenwood and absolutely love it. I think Gavin Norman has done an amazing job with that game - both the rules, but especially the campaign setting. It's much more lore-heavy and detailed than I typically gravitate towards. But it's presented in a way that's very usable at the table, and supports emergent gameplay. I effectively run it with zero-prep, all driven by the hex descriptions in the campaign book and the random encounter tables. If you don't own it, that might be worth checking out for inspiration.

In any case, including at least one scenario would be super helpful. More (either in the campaign book or as separate modules) certainly help.

Thank you so much! I'm definitely having a lot of fun developing the game. I appreciate your perspective. I'm not familiar with Dolmenwood. It sounds interesting and creative. I will have to check it out. I will let keep everyone updated once I have a scenario available for feedback.
